Bit Six

This past weekend was amazing! I had an opportunity to go to Southern with AMFA for their Adventist Muslim Fellowship Summit. It was great to be able to see friends while I was still supporting my mission work. God truly blessed. There were quite a few people that came to hear our speakers. I could tell that God had been preparing everyone to hear the message we had for them. A lot of the attendees were very open-minded and the speakers were well received.
We were able to cover several topics, including:

• Who is Allah?
• The Adventist message for Muslims
• What does the Qur'an say about the Bible?

Along with these discussions, several people shared some of their experiences with learning more about the Muslim faith.


It's crazy how one busy weekend can really throw you off for a week. I've been trying to catch up with my responsibilities and my homework for Perspectives.

I would like to ask those of you who are supporting me through this time to please lift some things up for me in prayer:

• Time-management - As I attempt to create a balanced schedule for myself, I need to be able to make time for my ministry with others, my responsibilities to AMFA, my classwork for Perspectives, and my personal time for spiritual growth.
• Funding - Toward the end of February, I will need to have $1,000 raised so that I can support myself for the next couple of months here in Atlanta.
• My health - Many of the people I work with are starting to become sick, and I'm hoping to avoid contracting any viruses.

Bit Five

This blog will be pretty short since I only have about 10 minutes. Today is going to probably be the busiest day I've had so far.

This week, Heidi has arranged for me to meet several people who are working (as volunteers or as paid employees) in Clarkston with refugees.

Yesterday, I . . .

• Shadowed Annie, an Assistant Case Manager at World Relief. It was great to have the opportunity to learn more about what World Relief is about and what they are doing for refugees throughout the nation as well as in Atlanta.
  
• Went to a sewing class for refugee women that has just started. The class is available so that these women can learn or improve their skills in sewing items such as handbags, sweaters, scarves, etc. They can then sell them to make money. Eventually, these women could just work out of their homes.
  
• Went with Kelly, a mission years student who I met at Perspectives, to the apartment of a Somali woman. Kelly visits this woman every Wednesday. (More on this later)

Today, I will . . .

• Visit Rhoda at the Somali Center, where she will introduce me to a Somali man who speaks Italian!
  
• Check out the Internet Cafe in Clarkston. It's actually just a computer room at a local church where volunteers help refugees find jobs, prepare resumes, and practice English.
• Help Stephanie, another mission year student, at an after school care for children.
